Vanessa will gratefully be sharing and serving on the Big Island through March and April of 2012, offering Residential Retreats, Evening Sittings, and a limited number of Private Sessions. If you would like to host a Sitting in your home while Vanessa is on the Island, please be in touch. Vanessa may also be traveling to Maui and Kauai during this time, so we welcome invitations on these islands as well. We look forward to connecting with you at upcoming events with Vanessa in Hawaii.

Please join us for an evening discourse and sharing with Vanessa. These evenings of uniting in remembrance offer a deep space of inquiry in which to receive essential nourishment from within. The talk lasts about an hour, and includes the opportunity to share and inquire. Sittings with Vanessa are an opportunity to gather in remembrance and receive essential nourishment from within, diving into the experience of being alive and fully receiving the rare and precious gift of this Life. The talk usually lasts a little more than an hour, and includes the opportunity to share and inquire. All are welcome in this space of authenticity, sharing and celebration. Peace Walk in San Quentin Prison, California

The Amala Foundation welcomes you to join the 2nd Annual Champions for Children Peace Walk in San Quentin Prison on June 9th & 10th, 2012, benefiting the Global Youth Peace Summit.

This is an amazing opportunity to come together as a community, walking side by side with the inmates of San Quentin Prison in solidarity, unity and devotion to the goal of supporting each other and the youth of the world to cultivate sustainable peace within and without. The Peace Walk addresses the roots of violence and offers a path of healing to the men who walk as well as to the youth it ultimately serves.

Funds raised through the Peace Walk will go toward both this year's 6th Annual Global Youth Peace Summit in Austin, Texas, as well as the 1st Annual Northern California Global Youth Peace Summit, to take place in 2013. This Peace Walk will help create the Champions for Children Scholarship Fund, enabling the children of these incarcerated men to attend the 2013 NoCal Summit.

We welcome you to be a part of this transformative event, offering a direct experience of unity and the realization that love can never be imprisoned. Even if you cannot participate in the walk, we invite you to support this sustainable peace movement by donating to the Global Youth Peace Summit.

The Champions for Children is a compassionate group of men incarcerated in San Quentin State Prison who have organized to support the Global Youth Peace Summit, a project committed to empowering youth to grow into peace leaders of a global community. The men were inspired by their direct experience of healing from the wounds of violence in their work with Vanessa in the prison to support the work of the Amala Foundation.

Champions for Children: Curtis, Sam, Gino, Stephen & J.W.

The Champions for Children Peace Walk is a way for the men to make a difference in the world while they are incarcerated, to serve and give back. These men are walking to ensure youth affected by violence receive the support and healing needed to follow a brighter life path and grow into compassionate men and women.

Fundraising by Peace Walk participants will offer much-needed support for youth affected by violence to attend the Sixth Annual Global Youth Peace Summit. The Peace Walk addresses the roots of violence and offers a path of healing to the men who walk as well as to the youth it ultimately serves.

The Peace Walk creates a global community in the prison, echoing the One Village of unity in diversity that is created at the Global Youth Peace Summit: an environment of love, respect, honesty, and community. This powerful offering will deeply impact those who participate, bringing together those walking and all who support the event in celebration of service, compassion and unity.

The Champions for Children Peace Walk is a weekend event, including an Orientation Retreat with Vanessa on June 9th in Fairfax and the Walkathon on June 10th in San Quentin State Prison.

The Peace Walk Orientation Retreat with Vanessa on Saturday, June 10th, is designed to align volunteers with the heart of service, to deepen the experience and prepare for entering the prison. We are walking in solidarity with these men, to help realize our common vision of service to the youth of the world. It is the quality of our attention and devotion that will determine the depth of our direct experience. We are entering the prison to walk with the men, to be served as much as to serve, to be fully available to the offering. It is in our willingness to be impacted that we touch the heart of service. This is an opportunity to engage spiritually, ignite loving kindness and support consciousness within the prison walls.

We ask that all who wish to participate in the Peace Walk attend the Orientation Retreat with Vanessa. If you cannot attend the Retreat, but feel strongly called to join the Walkathon, please contact us.

Background on Bhatti Mines School Project:

The Amala Foundation has committed to offer its support and partnership to the Bhatti Mines School through fundraising and service trips to teach and work at the school. This school, located outside of New Delhi, works to educate 200 children in an effort to improve their quality of life and end child labor practices. This will be Amala’s third service trip to the school.

Without water or power, the 30,000 residents of the villages of Bhatti Mines face extreme hardship of poverty and unemployment, which forces many children to find manual labor jobs to help support their families. Additionally, the right of the people to occupy the land around the former mine continues to be unrecognized by the government: the villagers lack even the most basic services, and their homes are routinely bulldozed by the authorities.

The Amala Foundation is dedicated to improving the human condition through service, empowerment, and inspirational education. Our programs seek a peaceful and equitable future for all people by helping communities develop sustainably, consciously and lovingly.
